The wait is over. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has unleashed its 18.2 update, and with it comes the game's ninth map: Deston. This 8x8km near-future, ravaged world (formerly known as "Codename: Kiki") offers diverse biomes, from a flooded downtown with towering skyscrapers to murky swamps, clear coasts, and unexplored islands. Available as a Featured Map in TPP and FPP, for Solo, Duos, Squads (including 1-Man Squads), and in Custom Matches and Sandbox Mode (PC), Deston is poised to shake up the battlegrounds. Bots may spawn, and a specific vehicle roster includes the Pickup, Dacia, Coupe RB, Motorbike, Dirt Bike, Roadster Motorcycle, Quad, Buggy, Boat, Aquarail, and Airboat. Notably, the Flare Gun, DP-28, S12K, G36C, QBU, QBZ, K2, Sticky Bomb, Mortar, Lynx AMR, and 15x Scope will not spawn here.

Several points of interest stand out. The Hydroelectric Dam was once a green power source. The Assembly shows how wind turbines are made. The Arena is a paintball facility that might distract you—but remember your main purpose. And don't miss the swamp, concert area, and more.

To spice up gameplay, Deston introduces Map Utility Items. These are placed in your inventory upon entering the map, are not consumed on use, don't affect weight, can't be dropped or swapped, and occupy their own slot. The Ascender Attachment lets you use any Ascender as often as you like. The Utility Parachute looks like the Emergency Parachute and can be activated by pressing the Interaction key after jumping from a height. Keys are also provided.

Are you going to climb those towering skyscrapers on foot? Nope! Ascenders are ropes attached to objects for vertical traversal. You can swiftly descend from the highest rooftop with no fall damage. You can't use an Ascender if another player is on it, and you can't loot from the ground while mounted. Once on, move up and down with movement keys; sprint while moving down to speed up. Dismount anytime. At the top, you teleport to a nearby spot; otherwise, you fall. You can still be shot and killed, causing you to detach and fall. Ropes are found inside and outside structures, are static, and vary in height.

Cell Towers are tall, thin Ascender-focused buildings. Ride an Ascender from ground to a very high position in one long ascent, faster than regular Ascenders. At the top, press the Interaction key to be flung into the air in the direction you're facing. Your Utility Parachute auto-deploys, letting you glide long distances. This is a quick way to reach destinations.

Drone Access Rooms are spaces only reachable by Drones, adding variety to looting. Security Doors require Security Keys, which world spawn, stack, and are consumable (single use). One key can unlock a group of doors. Doors can't be closed or relocked. These are available only in Deston, in Normal Matches, Custom Matches, and Sandbox Mode (PC), but not in Custom Match – Esports Mode.

Fuel Pumps are located throughout Deston. Stop by to refuel your vehicle, or blow them up to finish off enemies. Only the driver can refuel by pressing the Interaction key for 1 second while the vehicle is at a full stop, within a 5m radius. Moving or changing seats cancels. Fuel Pumps have health; they can be destroyed, causing a large explosion. Damaged pumps spark and leak gas, exploding after a few seconds. Additional damage speeds up the explosion. When health falls below a threshold, they take damage over time. Destroyed pumps can't be used. Available only in Deston (Normal, Custom, Sandbox; not Esports).

Introducing the world's fastest shotgun: the O12. High-capacity and lethal with slug ammo, it's feared in close- and mid-range combat. Its longer range than other shotguns makes it a worthwhile choice. It world spawns in Deston as a primary weapon using 12 Gauge Slug. Available only in Deston (Normal, Custom, Sandbox; not Esports).

Need a speedy ride on both water and land? The Airboat is very fast on water, can travel through shallow water, swamps, and open water, and also over land. It's faster than land vehicles in shallow water and carries up to 5 players. Available only in Deston (Normal, Custom, Sandbox; not Esports).

Miramar has received improvements: better terrain, improved buildings (cottages and storage inside and out), removal of the San Martin roof billboard due to high win rates, new billboards, and an Oasis added to the minimap. The Oasis has ankle-deep water at the shore, waist-deep in the center (no prone), lowered terrain around it, and new roads. Vehicle spots are added near the Oasis, and three near Chumacera roads. The Coupe RB spawns more often across maps and modes, with slight adjustments to other vehicle spawns.

The new Survivor Pass: Deston enriches your experience. Check the July Store Update for details.

A brand new system arrives: the Workshop. Craft your own skins with materials! Purchase Chests and keys from the Store, gather Imprints, Vouchers, Credits, and Tokens, and craft various skins. The Workshop menu is in the lobby. Choose Regular Crafting or Special Crafting. You need Hunter's Chests and/or Archivist's Chests, obtainable from the Store. Open them with keys (purchasable or craftable from 3 Key Fragments). Use materials to craft items you missed, including previous Store, Survivor Pass, and Esports items. Disassemble or Repurpose materials. Imprints, Vouchers, and Credits are core. Set Imprints guarantee at least 2 items from designated items; if you don't get one in 4 Chests, the next is guaranteed. Vouchers let you craft without Credits. Repurposing exchanges 3 Imprints/Vouchers for a random unowned item of the same tier. Special Crafting uses Artisan Tokens for new costume sets. New items and time-limited Tokens update regularly. A walkthrough video is coming to the official YouTube channel.

Item tiers have been readjusted based on in-game quality, acquisition difficulty, and more, to synergize with the Workshop. Check the full list at the bottom of the Patch Notes.

Weapon Mastery gets a major overhaul. The Mastery Tier is expanded to motivate maxed-out players. Stats are categorized by game mode (All, Normal, Ranked) and weapon type. The Expert Tier System has 7 steps (Tier 0 to 6), with highest level 700. Tier levels: 1 (100-199), 2 (200-299), 3 (300-399), 4 (400-499), 5 (500-599), Master (600-700). Rewards on tier upgrade include evolving Weapon Nameplates, Medals, and Charms (retroactively distributed based on highest level weapon). Charms are now player-owned, equippable on any weapon, and no longer acquired through Weapon Mastery but with BP from the store (except already acquired). Bonus multipliers increased for less popular guns. Points rewarded based on kills, not defeats. Commemorative medals are added for lobby acquisition. Match reward BP formula updated to reduce income gaps. O12 category added. Observer Voice Chat re-added. Performance improvements: reduced CPU usage for vehicles, memory savings from cache flushing, and various bug fixes for Training Mode 1v1 Arena, vehicles, UI, and more. Console-specific fixes and general improvements to Miramar, Taego, and Erangel are included.

So, what are you waiting for? Dive into Deston, craft your dream skins, and climb the Mastery tiers. Trust me, you won't want to miss this update.
