Okay, let me put my player hat on and walk you through this update the way I remember it. I’m writing this in 2026, but the patch I’m talking about originally landed around April 20–21, 2022, and it still stands out to me because it was a strange mix of nostalgia, a new 7.62 rifle, and a Ranked reset. If you were there, you probably remember the headline: Sanhok was going back to its original look. Not a small tweak — a full revert to the overgrown paradise many of us fell in love with. In 2026, I still think that decision says a lot about how PUBG listens, argues with itself, and sometimes hits the reset button.

Here’s the old maintenance window, just for context:

Sanhok Goes Back to the Jungle We Remember 🌴

The devs had already said it in the 2022 Dev Plan, and this update made it real: Sanhok’s first-release appearance was coming back. That means the lobster-shaped building at Bootcamp, Docks, Ruins, Quarry, and the original blue-and-green jungle theme. I remember dropping Bootcamp and laughing at the absurdity of fighting around a giant lobster. It was silly, but it was our silly.

The nameless set of houses got its original identity back as Bhan. Mongnai, previously Airfield, returned too, along with the original Cave, Mountain, River, Pai Nan, Khao, Sahmee, and Kampong. Some textures from the then-current Sanhok, like building walls and foliage, were applied to the classic layout, so it was not a pure museum piece — more like a remaster of a map that had drifted too far from what players wanted.

A few things were removed from original Sanhok:

  • Jammer Pack

  • Decoy Grenade

  • Loot Truck

And a few things stayed:

  • Weapons: M79, 40mm Smoke Grenade, Mk12, Panzerfaust, C4

  • Tactical Gear: Drone, EMT Gear, Spotter Scope, Tactical Pack

  • Other: Mountain Bike

The ACE32 Arrives for 7.62 Fans 🎯

This was the part I was personally most curious about. PUBG said players were struggling with recoil control on powerful 7.62mm ARs, so they added a simpler 7.62mm option: the ACE32. It was designed as a high-stability, low-recoil, attachment-friendly rifle, and the idea was to make it easier to tame than the Beryl M762. The weapon pool apparently lacked full-auto 7.62mm ARs compared with 5.56mm options, so the ACE32 filled that gap.

It world-spawned on every map, took the primary weapon slot, and was available in Normal Matches, Ranked Matches, Custom Matches, Sandbox Mode on PC, and Training Mode. The one exception was Custom Match – Esports Mode. In Ranked, the ACE32 joined world spawn alongside the Mountain Bike and M79.

Ranked Season 17 and Reward Cleanup 🏆

Season 17 meant new ranked rewards based on your final tier from the previous season. The Parachute Skin was permanent, but the rest of the rewards were only usable during a single Ranked Season. Once Season 17 ended and the server went into maintenance, everything except the Parachute Skin was withdrawn from the Inventory. That always made seasonal rewards feel like a rental, but at least the parachute stuck around.

The minimum tier requirement for leaderboard entry was set to Gold 5 for all regions. Tactical Pack and Spotter Scope were flagged as overperforming. Spotter Scope changes were delayed to update 17.2 because the team wanted more design and development work rather than a quick number tweak. Karakin was replaced with the original Sanhok in the Normal Match rotation, while Ranked kept Erangel, Miramar, and Taego as permanent fixtures.

Map and Mode Changes I Noticed 🗺️

Erangel got a Hall of Fame entry for PGC 2021 winners NewHappy, with their team logo, photos, and trophy. Billboards showing the latest PUBG news appeared in areas like Starting Island, Shooting Range, Quarry, Georgopol, and Pochinki. Fifth Anniversary decorations were removed, and so were building decorations that hinted at the original Sanhok update. Miramar added the ACE32 to the Training Helper. The Training Helper also removed Molotov Cocktail, BZ Grenade, C4, and Sticky Bomb after reports of misuse on the training grounds.

Team Deathmatch added the ACE32 Spawn Kit. Spawn Kit improvements included 60 extra 9mm ammo and a Canted Sight for the VSS Kit, 30 extra rounds of every ammo type for DMR Kits excluding VSS, and a 4x Scope for attachable SMG Kits. The current Sanhok was removed from TDM and Custom Match – TDM, with the original Sanhok planned to return later. Custom Match – Sandbox on PC got an ACE32 spawn setting, and DBNOed characters got a falling animation when dropping from cliffs or buildings.

Fixes, Fixes, and More Fixes 🔧

The patch also had a long list of fixes: Deploy Parachute interaction at high altitude, aim accuracy exceeding 100% in the Aim Lab, vehicles spawning buried in the ground, bots failing to recognize Drones, missing emote animation in Death Cam, teammates unable to join Team Emote after a win, visibility issues at the indoor shooting range, instant death before DBNO at a certain location, foggy Training Mode map, grenade throw animation mismatches, missing Vending Machine sound, duplicated primary weapons in the Tactical Pack on console, Erangel collision and performance issues, Taego texture problems at DirectX 11 Enhanced settings, Custom Match password resets, Haven capitalization on the NA server, Arabic Training Mode UI issues, duplicate end-of-match screens, lobby character and background problems, Survivor Pass message bugs, 21:9 UI placement, bot nicknames in Match Report, slow Team Finder transitions, overlapping Training Helper UI, and several console store and friend-request issues.

Cosmetic fixes covered clipping and transparency problems with JISOO’s BLACKPINK items, JENNIE’s leggings, Rabbit Season Hoodie with PGC 2019 Combat Pants, Polar Bear Suit shading, event weapon lock icons, J0’s Mk47 Mutant glow, Sinister Skull Mask with Wild Cat Hoodie, RYAN’s Slippers, and NieR Replicant Kainé’s Dress with Tormented Knight Gloves.

What This Patch Means to Me in 2026 🎮

Looking back from 2026, this update feels like a time capsule. The ACE32 became the easygoing 7.62 option I still recommend to friends who hate recoil. The original Sanhok return was a reminder that newer is not always better, and that a map’s personality matters as much as its balance. Ranked rewards taught me to enjoy seasonal cosmetics while they last. And the enormous fix list shows that PUBG is never really finished.

If you are reading this in 2026, treat it as a player’s retrospective rather than a live patch note. The game has moved on, but this patch still explains a lot about why Sanhok, the ACE32, and Ranked seasons feel the way they do today.
